Day 15: Pass the Dip…or Pass on the Dip

April 29, 2010

Five Restaurants in Seven Days

So, yeah, it’s the 2nd week of the new (and I plan for it to be the LAST) diet…and through a series of odd events, I end up five restaurants for means this week.

In the past, this would have probably marked the end of a less-serious attempt to get back on track.  The “f-it” mode of “I already blew it” would have impacted my choices.

But I’m proud to say that I did pretty well.  My weigh-in this week was zero (no loss, but no gain) so I held on to the 1st week’s loss…even with the trips into the Land of Temptation.

  • I practiced eating like a thinner person and tasted things I wanted to try….even the spinach dip with chips (mmm)
  • I did not attempt to taste EVERYTHING I wanted to try
  • I asked for modifications to my orders to make them a little less deadly, but no so many that everyone in the restaurant knew I was “on a diet.” (bum bum bummmmm) <– my version of “insert music”
  • I bypassed things on the menu that I knew were ooey-gooey delicious because of their incredibly high fat content.
  • I searched for found entrees with a good ratio of vegetables to protein.
  • I continued to log everything (which I know for me is the most critical behavior to staying on-plan)

In short, although I did not lose weight this week, I also did not lose motivation and did not lose commitment.

And that, my friends, is a WIN!

  1. I agree – great attitude and glad you didn’t gain. I keep telling my girls, you can eat anything, but you have to eat in moderation. Sometimes a taste of something is all you need.

  2. Awesome! That is a win. There is a website called myfitnesspal.com. It’s free and you can log what your food and exercise. It seems pretty cool. Hang in there!

  3. Great job! I really liked your strategy for navigating through all those temptations. No gain = WIN!

Great job and I love your blog btw, hope you don’t mind if I add you to my blogroll.

Take care and keep up the good work!

Good job! Is your excellent willpower for sale by chance? 😛

  5. WIN for sure! I’m proud of you for not hitting the “f-it” mode! lol 😀

  6. I have to agree with you, you WON!

Not losing weight its better than gaining weight. Just by not eating the things you enjoy or that you under other mind frame would have eaten, it’s a win!!

    Congrats!
